Matching trades and creating schedule D is as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Start the program and

• open a previously saved NEST file or

• import (from the file menu) a text file with the trade data or

• enter the data manually.

2 - Enter additional information, if needed for preparation of your schedule D, in the text boxes in in the main form.

3- Select the matching method (FIFO is the default) and click the "Match Trades" button.  (Export these trades as a TXF file if desired.)

4- Click the "Create Schedule D" button to generate PDFs of Schedule D and Schedule D-1.

Importing broker data

Brokers make files available that contain trade data.  These files have various formats.  NEST TMT was coded so that, in contrast with other products, editing of a properly formatted file is not necessary.  Extraneous characters are automatically removed, column headings automatically interpreted and only the transactions of interest (for example, stock trades) imported even if the file contains other trades (such as a file containing stock and option trades), so that there is no need to separate a file into multiple files before importing the data.  NEST TMT is intuitive and user-friendly.  The process is transparent.  Even if you select a broker template, the wizard will show the features distinguishing that broker's file so that you fully understand the importing process.

The "import" wizard makes importing trades from a broker-supplied file extremely easy.  Templates are available for certain brokers that make importing a file literally a three-click process.

Imported trades appear in the spreadsheet in the main form.  You can edit and view in many different ways.

Other functions

• one-click generate excel files from the "Reports", "Executed Trades", "Matched Trades" and "Open Positions" menus

• view trades and positions in various manners in the spreadsheet in the main form without ever leaving the main form

• tag and correct for wash trades as required by the IRS

• tag and correct only for wash trades that effectively change the final totals (many will cancel off as positions are closed and reopened)

• see reports with trade statistics
