1. Generating a license A license can be easily generated. In the computer fingerprint field shown in Figure 1, paste the fingerprint e-mailed or passed to you by your customer. Select a software from your saved software list (Figure 2). Then type a keyword and initialization vector (required for the encryption process). Before you click on the "Generate Key" button, if you want to save the license data in your customer's record, you must have that record open and the "Manage client database" checkbox checked. More on this later. After you click on the button, the license key you will e-mail to your client appears in the gray-filled field Figure 1. 2. E-mailing license key to client Figure 1 shows the controls that allow you to e-mail the license key to your client with the click of a button. Make sure to enter a return e-mail and your smtp mail server and to check where the server requires a secure connection and user authentication. If user authentication is required, enter your username and password. The client's e-mail field and your firm's name (it will appear in the "From" field together with your return e-mail address) are also needed. 3. Creating or expanding your software list Figure 2 shows the portion of the window handling the software products to validate. To add a software, type the name of the software and click "Add to List". It gets added to the combo box. You can also delete a specific software from the list. These changes are only effective after you click "Save Software List". Next time you start he software, it will read the last saved list. To generate a license key for a specific software, select it from the list in the combo box.. To view how many licenses of a specific software a customer has, also select the software from the list in the combo box. 4. Generating code snippets Figure 3 shows the portion of the window handling the generation of code snippets. These are C# snippets ready to paste at appropriate points in the code (the more points you put the checking snippet in, the more secure your software will be). The snippets are short and easy to translate into another language. 5. Managing client database Figure 4 shows the portion of the window containing the buttons that allow opening, viewing, saving or starting a new client list. Figure 5 allows creating, selecting, editing or deleting a specific client record. This record includes client data and, specifically, information on each licenses of each software in the software list that the client has purchased and activated. You must click "Save this Client" if you wish to preserve changes to the client record and Save Client List if you wish to preserve changes to the entire client list, including the present record.
